err, it was on a stand-up of hers and paul somebody’s…where they repeated that phrase…for 3 or so minutes…while she danced around on one foot…

I think it was done on purpose. It just adds to the effect of how painfully obvious it is that the guy was not a native and nothing short of a fraud. Despite all this the girl only finds out that the tropical candys were actually starbursts.
